The Esports World Cup, officially announced in October 2023 by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is set to have its inaugural season in the summer of 2024. The global tournament will feature the biggest prize pool in esports history alongside a lineup of popular titles. Recently, the organizers announced Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) as the first title.
Fans will get to witness two Mobile Legends Bang Bang events — MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and MLBB Women’s Invitational (MWI) — happening later this year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Besides the announcement of the first title for Esports World Cup 2024, organizers have also confirmed the biggest-ever prize pools for both Mobile Legends Bang Bang events.
Esports World Cup 2024: Mobile Legends Bang Bang Events, MSC & MWI, To Have Biggest-Ever Prize Pools
After the historic announcement of the inclusion of MSC and MWI to the lineup of the global esports competition in Saudi Arabia, organizers have also confirmed record-breaking prize pools for both MLBB events. MLBB Mid-Season Cup will have an enormous prize pool of US$ 3,000,000, while MLBB Women’s Invitational will offer a massive reward pool of US$ 500,000.
For the uninitiated, the 2023 season of MLBB Mid-Season Cup — MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2023 — had a prize pool of US$ 300,000. At the same time, MWI 2023 offered a reward pool of US$ 30,000. Furthermore, both events have also received a revamp in terms of number of participants. The 2024 MSC and MWI seasons will feature a greater number of teams in comparison to previous editions.
Interestingly, MOONTON Games had announced the rebrand of the MLBB Mid-Season Cup from the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup earlier on January 1, 2024, implying the organization of the event outside the SEA region for the first time.
