Kohei Horikoshi gave fans the first glimpse of the adult lives of the 1A students in chapter 430 of his popular manga. We learned that even though most of the others are working as pro-heroes, Deku, who lost his One For All Powers, became a teacher at the UA. With the release of the new volume came chapter 431, along with some new and exciting revelations.
My Hero Academia Volume 42 Puts Focus On Ochaco And Himiko
Chapter 431, which is a brand new addition to the story, begins with Ochaco Uraraka standing alone in a field with a single tree. As she turns around, the hero sees Himiko Toga smiling at her. Suddenly, Uraraka wakes up in her office and realizes that it’s a dream. The scene moves to the Big Three, Mirio, Nejire, and Tamaki as Ochaco and Tsuyu meet up with them. We learn that the group is there to Quirk Train with some small children. Mirion, known by his hero name Lemillion, immediately wins them over with his charm. On their train ride back, Tsuyu asks Ochacho if she’s still dreaming of Himiko.
Ochaco says yes, but she doesn’t remember what they’re about. She wonders if Himiko’s blood is still active in her body. We then see Bakugo driving a car with Kirishima in the passenger seat and Deku in the back. Kirishima, who’s the No. 12 ranked pro-hero, is looking for sidekicks and asks Midoriya if any of his students fit his style. We learn that despite being the No. 4 ranked hero, Bakugo still hasn’t gotten a sidekick. He tries to slyly ask Midoriya to join his agency, but the protagonist says that he’s really happy with his job as a teacher.
Bakugo tells Midoriya that it’s time to start thinking a bit highly of himself. If he gives special treatment to everyone, then it means nobody’s really special to him. The scene moves to a party, where all the former UA students have gathered to celebrate Todoroki’s ascension to the 2nd highest-ranked pro-hero. The group catches up on gossip as we see characters like Momo, Jiro, Kaminari, Shinsou, Mina, Iida, Tokoyami, and all their other classmates. Todoroki says that even if the heroes are headed toward extinction as Tokoyami says, he will stay and fight for as long as he’s needed.
Readers Finally Get A Satisfying Conclusion Between Deku And Uraraka
While talking to his friends, Deku keeps looking at Uraraka. Suddenly, they are called upon to deal with a situation. The former classmates don their hero costumes and fly out in an impressive panel. After dealing with the situation, Todoroki says that he’s already paid the bill, so everyone can go home now. Izuku says goodbye to Bakugo and asks him to visit the school as a guest lecturer. While returning home, Ochaco thinks about how she couldn’t talk to Izuku. Even though she’s satisfied with how things are, she can’t help but want to speak to him more. Suddenly, Izuku calls her from behind.
When she turns around, Izuku says that even though he loves and respects everyone, he really wants to talk to her alone more. Uraraka suddenly sees a vision where Himiko smiles at her and says that she lived the life she wanted to. Since she loves Ochaco so much, it’s now Himiko’s wish to see her live the life she wants to. Back in reality, Uraraka finds herself standing really close to Izuku and she says that she would love to talk to him more. The chapter ends with them holding hands as if to commemorate a new beginning. The readers were really happy with the new ending as it brought some meaning to Midoriya and Uraraka’s relationship.
It was also heartwarming to see how Ochaco overcame the trauma of Himiko’s death and learned to move forward. Even though it’s been 8 years since the final war, all the adored characters have found their place in the world. To celebrate the final chapter of this beloved manga, Marvel Comics also released some new illustrations featuring Marvel heroes and My Hero Academia characters. With volume 42, the long and celebrated run of Kohei Horikoshi’s superhero manga has finally come to an end.
