Roblox Parental Controls Gets A New ‘Link Account’ Feature
According to Matt Kaufman, Chief Safety Officer at Roblox Corporation, the latest changes make it easier for parents to manage their child’s Roblox settings. The National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) and the Family Online Safety Institute (FOSI) are some of the partners of Roblox Corporation that approved of the changes.
A big part of the Roblox child safety updates is the parent-child account linking feature. Parents can monitor their child’s activities on the gaming platform and change the content maturity setting after the short verification process:-
- Launch the Roblox application from your child’s account.
- Navigate to the Settings and then choose Parental Controls.
- Select ‘Add parent‘ and enter your email address. Next, in the email, instructions will be sent to create or sign in to an account.
- Verify your age by either using a government-issued ID or a credit card.
- Check the settings of your child’s Roblox account. Enter the correct age of your child from the Parental Controls to avoid any problems in the future.
Apart from restricting the type of content a child can see, parents can limit their screen time from the Parental Controls settings. They can also check their child’s average screen time over the past week.

Roblox Child Safety Updates: Developers Get Deadline To Label Their Games Based On The Experience
A longstanding problem on the Roblox platform was that the games were rated based on age rather than experience. It created complications for parents who wanted to restrict certain aspects of games such as crude humor and violence for their children. Due to the recent Roblox child safety updates, experiences will now be labeled as Minimal, Mild, Moderate, and Restricted, based on the violence, depiction of blood, fear, gambling content, and themes.
Children under the age of 9 will be restricted by default to content Minimal or Mild content. Meanwhile, games labeled Moderate will be accessible via parental consent. Roblox developers have until December 3, 2024, to follow the labeling system and update their games. Otherwise, their content will be restricted to users under the age of 13 by default.
There are more Roblox child safety updates independent of parental controls. Certain games will be age-restricted, available for users aged 14 and above, due to the type of content. The automatic labeling makes the job easier for the developers. Additionally, Roblox will maintain its built-in filters and moderation rules for chat features.
In tune to make Roblox a safer place for youngsters, users under the age of 13 won’t be able to directly message others or use public broadcasts outside of games or experiences. This setting can be changed in the Parental Controls, similar to the Roblox voice chat feature.
