Old G has qualified for the Second Division of DPC
Old G finally made it to the second division of the Western European Dota Pro Circuit after failing to qualify in the first season. Thanks to victories in the Open and Closed Qualifiers. N0tail, Ceb, and Topson, two-time winners of The International, originally made-up Old G, but their initial incarnation was defeated before they could reach Division Two. A rebuild was made possible when N0tail announced his departure from the roster soon after the disappointing run. Old G added Roman “Resolut1on” Fomynok from Team Secret and Kartik “Kitrak” Rathi to its roster during the offseason.
Old G is looking for some tough competition
With the new additions, Old G could maintain its form throughout the Closed Qualifiers and, after a dominant run in which it lost just one game to PuckChamp, eventually secure a Division Two seat. Old G received criticism prior to the qualifiers for recent roster changes, which Ceb publicly addressed by pleading with the supporters to have faith in them. Recent results undoubtedly supported the Frenchman, but Old G is now prepared to forge a new course.
Old G faces some tough competition in what may be the most competitive second division the Western European Dota region has seen in a while, given that Team Secret is also Division two this season. There are a few rosters looking at the top two seeds for their chance at division one, as D2 Hustlers did when they returned to WEU after spending a season in NA.
Conclusion
If Old G are able to finish their run in the close qualifiers, Ceb will once again have the last laugh. They won’t have a chance to compete for a spot in The International 2023 until they battle through Division Two and perhaps Division One. But he has overcome obstacles in the past, and given the team’s abundance of talent and knowledge, there is no reason it can’t do so again.
