IOC announces in-person Olympic Esports Series 2023 Finals at Singapore
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) recently gave details regarding the Olympic Esports Series 2023. The Olympic Esports Series 2023 is a virtual and simulated sports event IOC forms with International Federations (IFs) and game publishers. The event kicked off on the 1st of March, and players began participating in the qualification rounds. It features a total of 9 games which are officially recognised sports. Once the qualification is done, the winners will move to the finals. The tournament finals will take place in person at Suntec Centre in Singapore from the 22nd to the 25th of June. The sports recognised by IOC will be governed by the sporting bodies.
About the Olympic Esports Series 2023
The previously announced virtual tournament of the IOC, the Olympic Virtual Series, has evolved into Olympic Esports Series 2023. The previous series involved about 250,000 participants from 100 countries in 2021. As stated above, the Olympic Esports Series will have 9 games, and the list is as follows, along with their governing bodies.
· First, comes up is Archery, and the game that will be followed is Tic Tac Bow which will be under World Archery Federation.
· Baseball is the second game, and players will play WBSC ebaseball: Power Pros. The governing body of the game will be World Baseball Softball Confederation.
· Chess is the third game on the list, Chess.com will be the game, and the governing body will be the International Chess Federation.
· The fourth game on the list is Cycling Zwift. Union Cycliste Internationale will be the governing body.
· Dance comes as a fifth game where players will play Just Dance. World DanceSport Federation will govern the post.
· Motorsport comes sixth on the list, and Gran Turismo will be the game under Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile.
· Sailing is the seventh on the list, Players will play Virtual Regatta, and World Sailing will govern it.
· Taekwondo is the eighth game on the list, and Virtual Taekwondo is under the governing body World Taekwondo.
· Tennis is the ninth sport, and the game is Tennis Clash. International Tennis Federation will govern the game.
The finals of these events will take place in Singapore’s Suntec Centre, and players will be seen competing in front of the crowd. It will engage in more thrilling competition for the prestigious title of the Olympic Esports Series winner. The matches will be live-streamed globally on Olympics.com and the social channels of Olympic.

The IOC Esports Liaison Group Chair, David Lappartient stated that the Olympic Movement peacefully brings people together to the competition. To this, Olympic Esports week is continuing with an ambition of creating more spaces to play for players and elite fans of the competition. IOC looks forward to witnessing the actions on the global stage and will explore the opportunities and lessons. It will be across health and well-being, training and innovation.
