Saint Figarland Garling’s Past Proves His Incredible Strength
In One Piece chapter 1086, the readers were first introduced to an older man named Saint Figarland Garling. It was revealed that he is the Supreme Commander of the God’s Knights, which gives him the power to punish the other Celestial Dragons if they step out of line. Much like the other World Nobles, he also regards every person weaker than him as trash. Being a member of the Figarland family also means that he is the descendant of one of the First Twenty who established the World Government.
Other than his position as one of the most influential people in the world of One Piece, not much is known about Garling. It was revealed that 38 years before the events of the manga, Garling participated in the Native Hunting Competition which took place in God Valley. Despite starting with negative 10,000 points, he was able to take the lead quite easily before the event was interrupted by the Rocks Pirates. It was not disclosed what he did during the battle, but in the end, Garling was declared to be the Champion of God Valley.
Figarland Garling’s New Position Gives Him Unimaginable Power
After the incident at God Valley, the Celestial Dragons, along with Figarland all moved to the Holy Land Mary Geoise. Since Shanks was found by Roger at the ruined valley, some people speculate that he might be Garling’s son. However, this information has not been confirmed in the manga. Currently, Saint Figarland Garling is one of the strongest men on earth, despite his full power having never been revealed in the manga.
According to the One Piece chapter 1125 leaks, Garling will be appointed as the Warrior God of Science and Defense, replacing Saturn as one of the Elders. The former Gorosei member Jaygarcia Saturn will also be killed by Imu in the upcoming update. It seems that the power dynamic amidst the Elders will shift now that Garling holds the same authority as them. He will likely play a crucial role in the Elbaf Arc against the Straw Hat pirates.
