One Piece SBS Volume 109 has been released and there are some interesting details to unravel in it. The SBS corners are one of the most interesting parts of each One Piece volume release because Oda gets some wild questions and he reveals some insane details that he didn’t get a chance to reveal in the canon story. So let’s check out some highlights from One Piece SBS Volume 109.
One Piece SBS Volume 109: Key Reveals
In this Q&A section, Eiichiro Oda responds to fan letters, covering a wide range of topics. Whether it’s revealing character ages, hidden details, or just having fun, the SBS provides fascinating insights into the world of One Piece. So let’s take a look at the most important reveals of One Piece SBS Volume 109.
Introduction of Hanafuda
Oda had previously stated in the main story that Ace had been offered the Warlord’s position after he defeated one of the previous 7 Warlords of the Sea. When Ace declined the offer, Moria replaced the fallen Warlord. Oda has revealed in One Piece SBS Volume 109 that this Warlord was named Hanafuda and was known as the King of Lizards”. He also had a penchant for collecting strong Zoan Devil Fruit users- specifically those using Ancient Zoan models.
Kalifa’s Father & Sister In Cipher Pol
In another question, Oda reveals that Alpha is actually the younger sister of Kalifa. Their resemblance is actually blood-related but despite them being siblings, they don’t have any emotional attachment to each other because that would be a hindrance in their line of work. They’ve also never worked together as both of them were stationed in different Cipher Pol divisions.
He also goes on to reveal that they are both daughters of Laskey- a former CP9 member. Oda also mentions that this is a rare case since most Cipher Pol members are orphans- so one of them having their entire family being part of Cipher Pol at some point is rare.
Fujitora’s Sword Is A Meito Grade Supreme Blade
In the latest One Piece SBS Volume 109, Oda confirms that Fujitora’s sword is indeed a Meito Grade Supreme Blade- which is the highest quality of blades in One Piece. There are only 12 Meito Grade swords in the One Piece world and now we know who has 5 of them- Gol D. Roger, Edward Newgate or “Whitebeard”, Shanks, Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, and Issho “Fujitora”. Oda also reveals other details about Fujitora’s sword in his answer as you can see in the picture above.
How CP9 Members Got Promoted To CP0
Oda answers in his latest SBS that CP9 was blamed for failing their mission by Spandam- who survived and got promoted to CP0 due to his father Spandine’s higher standing within Cipher Pol. Eventually, Lucci uncovered a heinous plot involving Spandine, several big names from the underworld, and former Level 6 prisoners from Impel Down. This got him promoted to CP0 alongwith several CP9 members and demoted Spandam to act as his underling.
Timeline Of Amazon Lily Empresses
Oda also answers a misguided question about former Amazon Lily Empresses and he goes on to draw a timeline of former Amazon Lily Empresses including a timeline for Hancock- the current Empress of Amazon Lily. We get the name of the Empress who died due to lovesickness prior to Boa Hancock- her name was Toritoma. Oda also reveals that all of the Empresses are named after flowers.
The SBS (short for “Shitsumon o Boshū Suru,” meaning “I’m Taking Questions”) is a delightful column featured in most tankoban collections of the One Piece manga, starting from Volume 4. You can check out the release date of the upcoming One Piece Chapter 1120 here.
