Orangutan defeated Gods Reign by 3-0 to become an undisputed winner of the tournament
VCL South Asia Split 1 came to an end with a phenomenal victory of Orangutan over Gods Reign. The tournament’s final match was scheduled to play on the best of five maps: Icebox, Haven, Split, Pearl, and Ascent. However, Orangutan, the undisputed winner of the tournament, won the first three maps against Gods Reign in their first encounter of the tournament. The match was played on Icebox, Haven, and Split Map.
Match Analysis
Game 1: Icebox Map
The 1 hour 10 minutes and 43 seconds first game of the match started on the Icebox Map, where Gods Reign dominated the first half of the game against Orangutan. The team won straight 6-round wins from rounds 5-10 to conclude the first half with a score of 4-8. However, during the second half of the game, Orangutan bounced back with back-to-back round wins over Gods Reign to finish the second half of the game by 9-2. Orangutan won the Icebox map by 13-10 to record 1-0 against Gods Reign in the match. tesseract from Orangutan dissected Gods Reign with 30 kills; whereas, tixx from Gods Reign managed 25 kills.
Game 2: Haven Map
The 34-round second game of the match started on the Haven map and lasted for 1 hour 43 minutes and 47 seconds. Orangutan started the first half of the game by winning the first 3 rounds; however, Gods Reign once again got hold of the first half by winning 8 rounds to finish with a score of 4-8. However, during the second half of the game, Orangutan once again bounced back after an initial stumble to finish the second half with a score of 8-4. During the start of the third half of the game, both teams were standing at an equal score of 12-12. Both teams were playing neck-to-neck battle against each other till round 31. However, Orangutan maintained its temperament to win the third half with a score of 6-4 to finish the game by 18-16. azys from Orangutan registered 30 kills; whereas, tixx from Gods Reign registered 30 kills.
Game 3: Split Map
The crucial game of the match started on the Split Map and lasted for 46 minutes and 35 seconds. Gods Reign started the first half of the game by winning the first two rounds. However, Orangutan regained its temperament again by winning 8 rounds to finish the first half of the game by 8-4. During the second half of the game, Orangutan ensured to conclude the game by not allowing Gods Reign to win a single round. Orangutan with a straight 5-round win finished the second half of the game by 13-4, concluding the third game with a score of 13-4. tesseract from Orangutan registered 18 kills; whereas, tixx registered 19 kills.
Orangutan deserved to be the champion of the VCL South Asia Split 1 since the team displayed phenomenal gameplay throughout the tournament. The team won a total prize amount of $14,000, whereas, Gods Reign stands in the second position by winning $8,000, True Rippers stands in the third position by winning $6,000, and Aster Army stands in the fourth position by winning $4,000.
