Halloween is around the corner and Overwatch 2 Season 7 is about to deliver a ‘spooktacular’ October. The new seasonal theme will be darker than ever as players enjoy the upcoming new content.
The first-person shooter game by Blizzard will celebrate the Rise of Darkness with multiple Halloween-themed skins and events. Among them is the Halloween Terror event and the crossover, Diablo-inspired attires that have left fans mesmerized.
Overwatch 2 Season 7 Halloween Event 2023 Release Date
Halloween events will begin when the new season takes over. Overwatch 2 Season 7: Rise of Darkness is going to be released on October 10, 2023. The event will last throughout the month and end on November 1. Going according to the timings of the previous seasons, the Halloween celebrations are expected to start at around 1 PM Central Time.
Overwatch 2 Season 7 Halloween Event Features
As per the official blog, Activision will bring a new Diablo-Overwatch crossover in the Trials of Sanctuary. The co-op game mode will allow players to upgrade their skills as they progress. Character selection that includes Sombra, Barbarian Zarya, Night Raven Illari, Cleric Lifeweaver, Imperious Reinhardt, and Inarius Pharah. The Diablo features come into play in boss fights, who have been changed to recognizable villains from the franchise such as Azmodan Wrecking Ball, Butcher Roadhog, and the highlight – Lilith Moira.
Along with Trials of Sanctuary, Junkenstein’s Revenge and Wrath of the Bride modes are going to give players bonus XP, credits, and unique costumes and cosmetics. The Junkenstein mode is expected to take place in the Tristram Cathedral and consists of Diablo-themed Town Portals as revealed by Overwatch Naeri on the messaging platform X.
A new map is also going to debut with the Overwatch 2 Season 7 Halloween Event. It is only exclusive to non-ranked modes and Quick Play since players need to get a hang of it before it is pushed to the competitive scenes. “Samoa is a new Control map where you’ll fight on tropical beaches, villages, and even inside a volcano!” Players must watch their steps to avoid pitfalls.
Lastly, Credits will be important in Overwatch 2 Season 7. The in-game currency can be used in the limited-time Halloween Terror Credits Shop to purchase old as well as new skins with Credits. The highlight of the shop is the ‘Gilded Hunter’ Sombra skin. Credits can also be used to unlock Overwatch 2 heroes rather than completing challenges or Battle Pass. The list includes Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Ramattra, and Lifeweaver and they are available till October 17, 2023.
Overwatch 2 Season 7 Halloween Event Skins
While the ‘Gilded Hunter’ Sombra can be purchased with Credits, a few super rare skins can be acquired by purchasing the Ultimate Battle Pass Bundle. It is usually priced at around $30 USD to $40 USD. Rewards include Legendary Lilith Moira skin, Legendary Inarius Pharah skin, and the Epic rarity Pumpkin-Spice Bastion skin. Overwatch 2 Season 7 will also bring hero balance changes. Mei will revert to her Season 5 Loadout and will no longer have the Deep Chill ability. The energy generated per second (EPS) of Zarya for her Projectile Barrier will be increased. Other nerfs and buffs will include Orisa, Ramattra, Wrecking Ball, Cassidy, Torbjorn, Brigitte, and Illari. Route 66 will also get a few adjustments during the event.
