The PlayStation showcase held on May 24, 2023, revealed 25 new trailers of the upcoming games on PS5. The showcase revealed a whirl of announcements, making a lot of buzz among the gaming community. From Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 gameplay reveal to the Final Fantasy XVI trailer launch, Sony’s PlayStation Showcase also provided the release date for Assassin’s Creed 2.
During the showcase, one of the best RPG games that grabbed the attention of players and fans was “Phantom Blade Zero.” Developed by S-Game, Phantom Blade Zero is an RPG action game set in the Phantom World universe, offering fans a semi-open world adventure. Here are all the details that you need to know about the new game, “Phantom Blade Zero.”
Phantom Blade Zero: Trailer, Storyline, and More
According to the Founder and CEO of S-Game, Soulframe Liang, Phantom Blade Zero is a spiritual rebirth of Rainblood: Town of Death. He initially developed Rainblood in 2010 with RPG Maker, a game-making engine, which is a free non-commercial tool, that allows developers to create 2D and 3D objects. Liang then shifted to the Chinese market where Rainblood grew into a whole new franchise, with a new name “Phantom Blade”. Phantom Blade Zero is made with Unreal Engine 5. Developers can access quality facial realism, and create large-scale worlds using this gaming engine.
Phantom Blade Zero, set in the Phantom World universe, revolves around “Soul,” who is an Elite assassin, working for “The Order,” a powerful organization. He was framed for the murder of The Order’s patriarch and was seriously injured during a manhunt. Even though he was saved by a mystic healer, the cure will only last for 66 days.
Soul has to fight against “inhuman monstrosities” and “powerful foes,” seeking out the mastermind behind the enemies of “The Order” within his limited 66-day time period. Phantom Blade Zero unravels in a semi-open world, which consists of multiple maps infused with diverse activities. Players will be able to access armor, weapons, skills, artifacts, and customizable characters when they complete challenges and defeat foes. The visuals of the game revolve around a dark and bleak world, reminding players to never let their guard down. This theme was chosen specifically by Liang to make the characters with a heart of gold stand out from the rest.
Phantom Blade Zero hosts a wide range of martial arts icons, instilling a twist of their own. Mr. Kenji Tanigaki is the action director of the game, providing his knowledge of classical martial arts skills to make the game more engaging and realistic for the players. The Combat moves in Phantom Blade Zero are handcrafted, as the motions would not bring the scenes enough justice.
The trailer and storyline are all that were disclosed by S-Game during the PlayStation Showcase. But, of course, more updates on Phantom Blade Zero will be made available down the line.
