Formerly, leaker ElChicoEevee shared a post that mentioned Darkrai would be released on August 29, 2024. An official confirmation from TiMi Studio Group is awaited.
While we wait for its debut, players can check out the leaked Pokémon UNITE Darkrai moveset. Given that it is not official, there could be a few changes in the moveset before the global release.
Passive Ability: Bad Dreams
Those who are familiar with Darkrai know its immense dream-invoking and subsequent controlling power. The mon’s passive ability, Bad Dreams, corresponds to its strengths. Darkrai deals damage-over-time (DoT) to sleeping Pokémon and the latter also take increased damage from Darkrai’s next attack. This makes it a nightmare to come across on the battlefield, pun intended.
Basic Attack
According to the leaked Darkrai moveset, the critter boots its attack and range when damaging sleeping Pokémon. Moreover, the Basic Attack of Darkrai has lifesteal. The Pokemon restores HP with each hit on the enemy, making it capable of pulling off tight 1v1s on the battlefield like Darkrai in Pokemon GO.
Beginning Moves — Hypnosis or Calm Mind (Level 1 or 3)
Hypnosis (CD: 7 seconds)
Darkrai fires a hypnotic suggestion to deal damage to the enemy Pokémon and puts them to sleep.
Calm Mind (CD: 9 seconds)
Darkrai focuses its mind and increases its Sp. Atk, Sp.Def, and movement speed briefly.
Hypnosis is a move that synergizes with Darkrai’s Passive Ability. However, Calm Mind can be used to stack power and defense for a strong finish. Choose accordingly.
Move 1 Options — Dark Void or Shadow Claw (Unlocked at Level 6)
Dark Void (CD: 4.5 seconds)
The Dark-type Pokémon fires shadowy balls at the enemy, affecting a wide area. The AoE attack deals damage and marks the enemy. Hit a follow-up attack (FuA) on the marked enemy to make it fall asleep (the mark is removed). At Upgrade Level 11, the move also applies a slowing effect on the marked opposing Pokémon.
Shadow Claw (CD: 9 seconds)
One of the best abilities in the datamined Pokémon UNITE Darkrai moveset is Shadow Claw. The user slashes in the designed direction to deal damage and mark the opponent. It is removed after a subsequent attack on the marked Pokémon and the opponent falls asleep. However, unlike Dark Void, Shadow Claw is renewed after the FuA. Upgrade Level 11 increases the damage dealt by the move.
Shadow Claw can be renewed with a FuA. However, Dark Void has more range and AoE.
Move 2 Options — Nasty Plot or Dark Pulse (Unlocked at Level 7)
Nasty Plot (CD: 4.5 seconds)
Nasty Plot is a buff that increases Darkrai’s Basic Attacks and Boosted Attacks. A maximum of two buffs can be stacked. At Upgrade Level 13, this move gains the ability to reset its cooldown when an opposing Pokémon falls asleep. It is unknown if the Sleep debuff necessarily has to be inflicted by Darkai.
Dark Pulse (CD: 12 seconds)
Dark Pulse in the leaked Pokémon UNITE Darkrai moveset allows the latter to fool opponents. The user creates six shadowy clones and when they are active, the user can move freely between them. When the move is activated again, Darkrai emits an aura that deals immense damage.
When the user is hiding in a circle of shadow, it can use Shadow Claw. This is undoubtedly an overpowered ability. At Upgrade Level 13, Dark Pulse grants the user a shield after a successful hit.
UNITE MOVE – Worst Nightmare (Unlocked at Level 9)
The UNITE MOVE in the Darkrai moveset compliments its overall gameplay. Regardless of the build one chooses, it is bound to be problematic for enemies because of Darkrai’s high Special Attack. The UNITE MOVE sends the opposing Pokémon into a nightmare during which Darkrai deals tremendous damage both inside and outside the nightmare. Moreover, it resets the user’s cooldown for each move.

Darkai can be a clutch character in Pokémon Unite. In the most dire situations, it can activate its ultimate, reset all moves, and steamroll opponents. Not to mention the lifestealing quality of its Basic Attacks.
