The ‘Teraleak’ involving Pokémon game developer Game Freak has been one of the most shocking incidents of the year. Although news of the breach in security was made public in October, the company revealed in a statement that its servers were hacked a month before. Sensitive documents regarding current and former employees have been leaked as well as Pokémon art, assets, music tracks, designs, and ideas. Among the multitude of information are Pokémon X and Y leaks, which show the many features, mechanics, and Generation 6 pocket monsters that weren’t added in the final product.
Pokémon X and Y Leaks Reveal Concept Art And Designs For Mega Mewtwo, Charizard, And More
One of the biggest sources of Pokémon leaks and rumors, CentroLeaks has provided interesting details on Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. The popular RPGs were released in 2013 and introduced the Generation 6 Pokémon in the video game series. The roster includes over 70 Pokémon but the number could have been much higher if the reportedly ‘cut’ pocket monsters were added to the game.
Numerous concept art and designs of Generation 6 have been leaked. The list includes beta Floette, beta Mega Charizard, and even an unreleased Mega Mewtwo form. There are also alternate concepts for Kanto-region critters, Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise. Most peculiar among the leaked art and designs is that of Furfrou, which has made fans lament that their favorite has gone bald.
In the post below, the critter next to Floette is described as a “fire-eating bird Pokémon” that stores fire in its body to heat its skull before headbutting an opponent.
According to the Pokémon X and Y leaks, the video games originally had a fourth Mythical Pokémon. It is codenamed Tettou in the leaked files and is described to be a dual Steel and Electric type. Tettou roughly translates to “steel tower.” Pocket monsters of such typing are rare, the list of which includes Magnemite and its evolutions and Togedemaru.

Diving, Hatching Facility, South Kalos, And More Features Were Reportedly Scrapped
Perhaps, the biggest revelation from the Pokémon X and Y leaks is about the Southern Kalos region. It was widely suspected to have been shelved a decade ago, but confirmation has been provided by the leaked images and documents of Game Freak. According to CentroLeaks, Southern Kalos had two towns, two cities, four dungeons, and eight routes.
The recent leaks also confirm that the Kalos region was originally intended to represent France as a whole. If the entire island is flipped, it represents the southern side of France. While the name of the left side is unknown, the right portion of the map was called Battle Island.
While the news about the Southern Kalos map has left fans on Twitter expressing their disappointment, they have become more frustrated after witnessing the features that were removed. Pokémon X and Y leaks mention that, originally, players were able to create custom gyms and share them online after which other players would’ve been able to challenge these gyms. More information about the scrapped multiplayer gym battles can be found here – https://x.com/CentroLeaks/status/1846795765953290447.
A diving mechanic was also scrapped from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. A 19-second clip shows the player character submerged in water, moving from one place to another. The leaker pointed out that players wouldn’t have been able to access different areas while swimming.
An incubation facility or ‘egg-hatching facility‘ was originally planned for the Gen 6 games. By using this mechanic, players would have been able to give NPCs their Pokémon eggs and hatch them all at once. Although convenient, it would have hindered the grinding aspect of the game as players require a certain amount of steps to hatch an egg.
Intriguingly, according to the Pokémon X and Y leaks, flying was originally meant for the two games. That is how reportedly players were supposed to find the Legendary birds, Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos, leading to battles in the sky.
As of writing, the CentroLeaks account is getting more updates on the leaks. The account includes leaked character and location images, a beta type chart, and scrapped monster models for Pokémon X and Y.
