Highlights:
* A recent Pokémon Z leak revealed that Zygarde was meant to have two Complete Formes, namely Forme X and Forme Y.
* The two Formes would’ve been the ‘counter’ for Xerneas and Yveltal and activated whenever the balance in the Kalos region was disrupted.
New information about released and unreleased games by developer Game Freak is flooding the internet, even though the leaks began emerging nearly three weeks ago. Concept art, character sketches, and beta images have disclosed the original ideas for titles such as Pokémon X and Y. Recently, a leak confirmed that the X/Y games would have had a successor called Pokémon Z. The letter ‘Z’ in the title stands for Zygarde, who was originally intended to have two Formes before both were remodeled.
Pokémon Z Leak: Zygarde’s Scrapped Formes Were Tailored To Hunt The X And Y Pokémon
Zygarde has three Formes, namely the 10% Forme, 50% Forme, and the 100% or Complete Forme. The dual Dragon/Ground Pokémon differs from other pocket monsters because it requires unique Zygarde Cells to ‘upgrade’ rather than ‘evolve.’ It can be caught in the Pokémon X and Y video games although the critter was supposed to play a larger role in the cancelled third entry.
According to a post by Centro Leaks, Zygarde was meant to receive different forms in the unreleased Pokémon Z. Game Freak intended to give Zygrade two versions, both Complete Formes, namely Forme X and Forme Y. The former was meant to challenge Xerneas (Pokémon X) while the latter was to defeat Yveltal (Pokémon Y). ‘Counter’ is the word used for Zygarde in the leaked document, meaning it may have defeated Xerneas and Yveltal with its arsenal.
Zygarde’s Forme X would been a large wolf but it was repurposed to the 10% Forme. Meanwhile, the Forme Y would have featured anti-aircraft-like weaponry to defeat the Flying-type Yveltal. This was later remodeled into the current 100% Zygarde. The pocket monster would have been the game’s highlight, given that it was supposed to feature in the box art, as per the Pokémon Z leak. Game Freak didn’t confirm the news of a Pokémon Z game but there have been several rumors and leaks.
Next, the Centro Leaks mentioned that the rock found in Sina and Dexio’s research lab is called the Z-Stone. Zygarde was originally planned to have a plot for Pokémon Z and Pokémon Sun and Moon but both were scrapped. Interestingly, the Pokémon Z leak claims that Zygarde would’ve “monitored” Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, the latter being responsible for controlling the life energy of the Kalos region.
Whenever the power dynamic between Xerneas and Yveltal was disrupted, Zygarde would’ve appeared after distorting the world to restore the balance. The critter would then change its form depending on the rival Pokémon.
In Pokémon Sun and Moon, the scrapped plot involves Dexio messaging the player about a Beast in the End Cave. Players were tasked to investigate and battle the mysterious danger. A Complete Forme Zygrade arrived to assist them because it deemed the Beast to be a threat to the ecosystem.
Although ‘Pokémon Z’ hasn’t had its time to shine, that may change with the upcoming game. Pokémon Legends: Z-A leaks mention that Zygarde could be one of the many new Mega Evolutions that are being developed by Game Freak.
