Kohei Horikoshi’s beloved manga My Hero Academia finishing after its ten-year-long run in August was one of the worst news for the manga community. Unfortunately, several other successful titles are also coming to an end this year. Jujutsu Kaisen’s mangaka announced that his popular series will only have 5 more chapters before its grand finale in September 2024. Other titles such as Black Clover and Kaiju No. 8 are also on their last arc and creeping toward their climax.

These Popular Manga Series Will Cease Publication Soon
The world of manga is pretty volatile with most titles not succeeding in the incredibly competitive industry. However, the ones that have a good story and great art often leave a mark on the readers even when they end. Much like MHA, which released its final chapter on August 4, 2024, these adored titles are also coming to an end soon.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Gege Akutami’s brutal shonen series Jujutsu Kaisen is likely the most famous manga and anime series of this decade. The story, which began publication in March 2018, revolves around a high school boy named Yuji Itadori who becomes the host of a powerful curse named Sukuna. The title features some great characters and phenomenal action sequences. Unfortunately, the mangaka announced that the last chapter of JJK will be released on September 30, 2024. Right now, the manga has 266 chapters, meaning its 271st chapter will be its last one.
Black Clover
In a world where everyone has control over magic, Asta is born without any magical abilities. However, in Yuki Tabata’s Black Clover, Asta gets a Grimoire which gives him anti-magic powers. The manga series reached the peak of popularity due to its well-formed storyline and collection of interesting and powerful characters. Due to Tabata’s health problems, the title ceased its weekly release schedule. Although the manga is still ongoing with two chapters releasing every 3 months, the title is already in its final arc. It is likely that Black Clover will be finished sometime in 2025.
Kaiju No. 8
Kaiju No. 8, which is a recent addition to the world of manga, exploded in popularity when its anime adaptation began airing in 2024. Written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto, the manga focuses on Kafka, who gets the ability to turn into a monstrous Kaiju even though his lifelong dream has been to join the Kaiju Defense Forces. Filled with explosive fights and a quick storyline, the title only has 112 chapters. Unfortunately, Matsumoto declared in July 2024 that the manga will soon be coming to an end, likely after its final fight against the overarching villain- Kaiju No. 9.
Vinland Saga
Makoto Yukimura’s historical fiction manga Vinland Saga began its run in 2005. The story, set in 1013 AD England, follows Thorfinn who is on a quest to find Vinland. After almost two decades of publication, the mangaka announced in April 2024 that the manga would end soon via a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account. Although heartbroken, fans are looking forward to seeing the grand finale of Thorfinn’s long adventures. It might still take a few more chapters to conclude.
