Highlights:
* Secret Agent Clank might be the next PSP classic to arrive on PlayStation Plus.
* An accidental leak around the 2008 PSP title recently surfaced.
Recently, fans have seen multiple PSP (PlayStation Portal) re-releases happening on PlayStation 5 and 4, including the titles like Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Jeanne d’Arc, and Daxter. It seems like that the lineup will further expand with yet another PSP classic, namely Secret Agent Clank. According to Radec (@realradec on X), PlayStation sent out an email, naming the Ratchet & Clank series title among the classic games available on PS Plus.
Interestingly, among the mentioned titles, Secret Agent Clank was the sole title that has yet to receive a release on PS Plus. Although the leak might have been a mistake, players can still expect the 2008 platformer to make its way to PS5 and PS4 in near future via PlayStation Plus. However, there is still no clarity around the exact date/window of re-release on PS Plus.
Sony Has Yet To Confirm Secret Agent Clank’s Re-Release On PS4 And PS5 Via PS Plus
Despite the accidental reveal, Sony has yet to officially announce Secret Agent Clank’s addition to the PlayStation Plus catalog, which features the majority of Ratchet & Clank games. For the uninitiated, the Ratchet & Clank spin-off was released on PlayStation Portal, back in June 2008 and was met with mixed to positive reception. Almost a year later Sony also released a PS2 port, which was not as critically acclaimed as the original version.
Unlike the other Ratchet & Clank titles, Secret Agent Clank is primarily focused on Clank. At the same time, Ratchet and Captain Qwark are also playable characters. The game spoofs spy action thrillers that are reminiscent of James Bond films, and provides Clank with an array of gadgets as well as a tuxedo and a bow tie.
The game was launched after Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, which was a massive success at the time. However, the Ratchet & Clank spin-off didn’t live up to the hype of Tools of Destruction and was followed by a much successful Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty later in 2008.
