Rockstar Games has avoided a Red Dead Redemption PC release for over a decade. Rumors of a PC port have been prevalent for years, especially after the game made its Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 debut in 2023. Thanks to a potential leak by Sony themselves, a PC release of RDR now seems imminent. John Marston’s adventures in the Wild West could even be made suitable for modern gaming rigs with a seeming remastered version.
Sony Reveals Red Dead Redemption PC Port In The Game’s PlayStation Store Description
The Red Dead Redemption PC release was rumored for 2023 after a job post description on Rockstar Games’ website went viral. However, it turned out to be a Switch and PS4 release. Many gamers expressed their disappointment on social media while the hype around a potential PC port died down.
In a bizarre turn of events, Sony seems to have leaked the game description for an upcoming Red Dead Redemption PC port. The description read, “experience the epic western adventures that defined a generation — now on PC for the first time ever.” More details about the unprecedented PC release:-
“Featuring the complete single player experiences of both games, including bonus content from the Game of the Year Edition, Red Dead Redemption features all of the 2023 console version upgrades plus PC specific enhancements including support for increased resolutions and framerates, multiple displays, and other accessories, plus spatial surround sound.”
Sony has changed the game description. However, @Wario64 quickly took a screenshot of the same and posted it online. Fans may have to wait for multiplayer content as per the screenshot.
Given the “PC specific enhancements” mentioned in the description, Red Dead Redemption may get a remastered release. Whether the remaster will be exclusive to PCs is unknown because of no official news or leaks. Nonetheless, it is going to catalyze a revival of the first installment in the Wild West-themed RPG.
Potential Red Dead Redemption PC Release Date
Red Dead Redemption will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in May 2025. There is a high possibility that a PC port is revealed at that very moment. The latest leak might be a teaser of what is to come.
Rockstar Games usually skips a PC release despite the growing popularity of platforms such as Steam and EPIC Games Store. A Red Dead Redemption PC port would certainly be welcomed by longtime fans similar to a PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6. Even though the official GTA 6 platforms currently include current-gen consoles, Rockstar could be secretly planning a PC launch.
