Riven Remake was announced this year and to everyone’s surprise, the Steam page mentioned Virtual Reality compatibility. The latest news from Cyan Worlds has confirmed that Riven will be arriving in Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 VR headsets.
Riven is a narrative-driven puzzle game that was originally released in 1997. Fans were captivated by its level design as the game takes place on five islands, each increasing the difficulty and complexity of puzzles as players kept progressing. Apart from finding solutions to the puzzles, players also embarked on the adventure of rescuing Catherine from Gehn, the self-declared ruler of Riven.
Riven Remake To Release On Meta Quest 2 & Meta Quest 3 VR
The Riven Remake will initially launch on the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest 3 VR platforms sometime in 2024. It will be followed by a release on Steam and Mac. Cyan Worlds has pooled all of its resources in the attempt to bring the popular puzzle game to modern devices, even taking advantage of Unreal Engine 5 to deliver a spectacular gameplay experience.
The 3D visuals of Unreal Engine 5 combined with puzzle-solving in virtual reality are bound to fascinate fans of any age group. Similar to the original game, players can experience the aesthetic environment of the five islands of Riven VR without solving puzzles to access new areas. The environment and landscape change on every island as players move from lush jungles to caverns.

Riven served as the sequel to the adventure game MYST which was released in 1993. Many mysteries surrounding the game were left unanswered.
