Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is gearing up for a worldwide launch in September 2024, as developers are busy putting the finishing touch to the game. Saber Interactive has also unveiled multiple promos, alongside regular community updates around the game’s development. In one of the recent community updates, the developers delivered a rather disappointing news for the fans ahead of the launch.
According to a post from the Steam Community Hub of the game, Saber Interactive has canceled the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 open beta test. The decision has been taken to focus on optimizing the game experience and fixing the prevalent issues before the launch. Here’s what the official statement from Saber Interactive read:
“Space Marine 2 is almost ready. We are now entirely focused on optimization, polish and fixing remaining issues ahead of launch on September 9. This means we will not run a public online beta, as it would take the development teams away from preparing for the full launch, and our priority is to ensure the best possible experience at release.”
The news might come as a shocker to many fans, but developers have also promised to deliver a free reward to anyone who had signed up for the Space Marine 2 open beta.
Developers To Send Rewards To The Players Who Signed Up For Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Open Beta
After canceling the Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 open beta test, Saber Interactive has also confirmed that players will receive limited Bolt Pistol skin as a token of apology. Only those players who had registered for the open beta test before June 28, 2024, 12:00 am CEST (GMT + 02:00) will receive the free reward.
Apart from confirming the cancellation of the Space Marine 2 open beta, the developers also confirmed that the game will be getting dedicated servers, which will aim at enhancing the multiplayer experience. As revealed in the June community update, devs have prepared servers across North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Oceania.
The game will feature a single-player campaign mode, while other PvE and PvP options will also be available. The Operations mode will serve as a PvE alternative, where players will get to play with their friends or solo. At the same time, three 6v6 modes — Annihilation, Seize Ground and Capture & Control — will also make their way to the game.
For the uninitiated, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is set to launch on September 9, 2024, across PC (Windows), Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5. Currently, fans can pre-order physical and digital editions of the game via the Focus Entertainment Store.
