The Suicide Squad Isekai Season 1 Beginning Was Great
Produced by Warner Bros. Japan and WIT Studio, the first three episodes of the Suicide Squad anime aired together on June 27, 2024. Fans were excited about the two worlds coming together for a magical adventure. True to its premise, our favorite supervillains including Harley, King Shark, Peacemaker, Deadshot, and Clayface were all sent to a fantastical world under the supervision of A.R.G.U.S. agent Rick Flag.
The Suicide Squad was tasked with helping the Kingdom fight off its enemies known as Empire. The project had a very high budget, which resulted in brilliant animation and phenomenal action sequences. From the very beginning, the series managed to captivate the audience with its unique plot which put modern-day supervillains in a world filled with dragons, demons, and magic. The way these villains were tasked with being the heroes of the kingdom was also a nice touch that everyone appreciated.
The Show Could Not Maintain Its Fascinating Charm Till The End
Unfortunately, fans felt that after a few episodes, Suicide Squad Isekai became a bit run-off-the-mill despite its potential to become something great. Thankfully, with the last few episodes, the show was able to win back some of its glory. Episode 8 of the anime revealed that Queen Adora of the Kingdom is actually an imposter. Things came to a head when the Suicide Squad ran out of time, making Amanda Waller set off the bomb inside Clayface’s body.

However, she grants the squad some extra time to finish their mission and come back home before the clock runs out. In episode 9, we learn that the imposter is none other than the Undead King. The Enchantress and Katana, both iconic characters from the DC Universe, also make an appearance in this episode. The latest installment of the series wrapped up the plot pretty nicely. The squad gets a magical power-up from Cecil, who asks them to help Princess Fione. After the supervillains manage to win the final battle against the Undead King, Fione ascends the throne as the new ruler of the Kingdom, giving everyone a supposed happy ending.
However, as fans had expected, we received a new and sudden plot development at the end of the latest episode. This sets up the plot for what people think will be a second season. Overall, the Suicide Squad Isekai anime was quite a treat for both DC fans and anime enthusiasts. Filled with impressive action scenes and witty comedy, the anime was able to retain the true flavor of the outlaws. But fans are hoping to see some improved plot progression in the next season to make it an overall better experience.
