Swedish game developer Tarsier Studios is working on another horror adventure title. The first REANIMAL trailer featured during the Gamescom 2024 Opening Night livestream amidst a plethora of upcoming video games. Running for 75 seconds, the Reveal Trailer introduced players to the two main characters which they would be able to control in both local and online co-op. Solo players needn’t worry as a single-player option will also be available.
REANIMAL Trailer Features Two Siblings In A ‘Horror With Hope’ Tale
REANIMAL tells the story of a brother & sister who “go through hell to rescue their missing friends” according to the Steam page. The trailer featured the two siblings running away from mutated animals and a monstrosity riding a bicycle in a dark, eerie background. The place used to be their home but it has been overrun by humongous animals.
After finding their friends, the siblings need to escape the island. REANIMAL includes boats that can be used by players to travel, explore the island, and guide the main characters to the objective. Don’t expect smooth sailing every time because they could be attacked by monsters from the depths.
REANIMAL will be Tarsier Studios’ third horror adventure title. The Swedish studio previously collaborated with publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment to release Little Nightmares I in 2017. A sequel was released four years later and that too gained ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ reviews on Steam. However, it isn’t free to play as compared to some popular free horror games in 2024.
Notably, Little Nightmares is fixated on single-player while the developers recommend co-op play in REANIMAL. The latter seems to have a darker atmosphere compared to Little Nightmares II.
Interested gamers can wishlist REANIMAL on Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Store. It is aiming for a launch on PC and current-gen consoles. Unfortunately, Tarsier Studios hasn’t disclosed any plans for the game’s release on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, or PlayStation 4.
The upcoming horror mystery game has no release date at the moment. One can expect a demo to be released on Steam by the end of the year.
