The Elusive Samurai Chapter 172 Recap
Three months after the death of Lord Akiie, Nitta Yoshisada is seen trying to cheer up his men. One of the men talks about how Ashikaga Takauji might be given the title Seii Taishogun. They talk about how Nitta, much like Takauji, is from the great Genji line. Nitta says that he does not care if someone is a commoner or from a great lineage, the only thing that matters is strength. He tells his army to only focus on the battle in front of them.
When they set out for war, Nitta learns that the Emperor has bestowed Tokiyuki Hojo with a Kanji. He says he looks forward to Tokiyuki surpassing him in terms of combat one day. Before they can reach the battlefield, Nitta and his men are ambushed by the enemies. One arrow pierces Nitta’s head and gravely injures him. Despite the wound, Nitta uses his sword to kill all the enemies. The chapter ends with his death, which clears the path for Takauji’s success even more.

Readers are eager to see what happens after Nitta’s death and how it will affect Tokiyuki Hojo’s future.
