The Elusive Samurai Chapter 174 Recap
Tokiyuki asks the boatman if he can get the sheep closer to the enemy fleet, but it’s impossible due to the storm. Surprisingly, the enemy soldiers are not affected by the torrents at all. He then asks Shizuku if stopping Mima’s attacks will calm the sea, to which she answers yes. However, Shizuku starts to get a vision of Mima’s past with her father Doyo. In the flashback, we see Doyo telling his daughter about Chikafusa, who is about to set sail with the entirety of the Southern Court’s fleet.
However, due to the weakened state of the navy, Takauji’s forces can’t sink the boats. Mima learns that sinking such a large fleet will require much more power than she currently possesses. Takauji forces her down and makes her drink his spit, which will greatly enhance her abilities. When she asks her father for help, Doyo says that in order to rule the land, he will have to betray even those who he values most. At that moment, Mima thinks about Takauji, who would have been able to save her.
In the present, Shizuku tells Tokiyuki about the secret behind Mima’s power boost. She is now strong enough to sink a fleet of 10,000 boats but the attack is also ruining her own body. Tokiyuki uses the sinking boats to jump around and fire arrows at the enemy. Remembering how his and Mima’s fates are connected, he promises to return her to her senses. However, Doyo tells Mima to unleash her final blow, which stops Tokiyuki from moving. Seeing the danger, Shizuku breaks her promise to Tokiyuki and unlocks her full potential.
