Tomb Raider Anime Release Date & Trailer Announced By Netflix
Tomb Raider anime release date is set on October 10, 2024, on Netflix. Hayley Atwell will be voicing the famous and iconic Lara Croft in the anime. You can watch the trailer below but you might not get what you expected.
As you can see from the above trailer, despite being called an “anime”, the animation in the trailer is clearly western. From character animations to the use of CGI for 3D backgrounds and action- the art style is not Japanese. That said, it looks great and Netflix has delivered some solid western animation these past few years so we’re looking forward to it.
Tomb Raider Anime: What To Expect
Tomb Raider has multiple storylines and characters. We’re still not sure if the anime will follow the original storyline with Lara or an anime-original story. According to the original story, Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of the missing adventurer, Lord Richard Croft.
Refusing to take over her father’s empire, Lara makes ends meet as a bike courier in East London while attending college. Driven to solve the mystery of her father’s disappearance, she discovers his last-known destination: a mythical island with a fabled tomb off the coast of Japan.
Lara embarks on a treacherous journey, against her dead dad’s final wishes, to this very island. She uses her wits and determination to survive against the island’s deadly traps and monsters. She also faces off against the ruthless Mathias Vogel, who seeks the same ancient power that led to her father’s vanishing.
If action, thriller and mystery genres are up your alley but you want none of that Western animation- if you’re actually looking for a Japanese anime on similar themes then you can check out these action anime series for your adrenaline fix.
