Uzumaki Anime Is The Most-Awaited Horror Title Of This Year
Junji Ito is a pioneer in the horror manga genre, and his magnum opus Uzumaki was released back in 1998. Over the years, it has become a cult classic amongst people who enjoy Ito’s unique brand of body horror. Naturally, the upcoming anime series, produced by Adult Swim, has been hyped beyond belief.
It was announced that the show will have four episodes, the first of which will air on Saturday, September 28 at 12:30 AM on Toonami. After that, new episodes will come out every Saturday. The audience will also be able to access the episode on Max the following day. The new Uzumaki trailer gave us a glimpse of what’s to come. Ito’s manga takes place in a fictional Japanese town called Kurouzu-cho. High school student Kirie Goshima and her boyfriend Shuichi Saito start to notice that their town is plagued by spirals, which are threatening to take over everything and everyone around them.
The manga is incredibly disturbing and visually stunning, which would look amazing once animated. The fact that it follows the original black-and-white color theme of the manga will make the watching experience even more enjoyable. The series is directed by Hiroshi Nagahama and stars Uki Satake as Kirie Goshima and Shin-Ichiro Miki as Shuichi Saito.
