Highlights:
* Valorant settings can be tweaked to suit one’s PC performance and improve frame rates.
* Choosing the right sensitivity setting and a small crosshair is also crucial for improving the game.
RIOT Games offers a long list of setting customizations to improve a player’s Valorant experience. Changing a few visual or UI settings can help stabilize the frames-rates-per-second (FPS), giving players a lag-free experience. However, new players often get confused by the number of options and don’t even understand some settings like the Movement Error or Firing Error.

Valorant Settings To Improve Game Performance
Playing with the Default settings of Valorant may not give the best gameplay experience. Professional players choose their own crosshair sensitivity and change a few settings to get better performance on their PC. Listed below in this guide are five Valorant settings to improve game performance:-
Maximize Display Mode And Minimize ‘Quality’ Performance
Choose the ‘Fullscreen’ option for Display mode. Minimizing the display will lead to lower frame rates on the screen, hindering one’s gameplay in the online shooting game. However, if one is experiencing frequent lags and fluctuating FPS, one could change their Display mode for a few games.
Keep the Texture Quality, UI Quality, and Detail Quality to Low. Keeping these settings on High will add visual clutter and force the PC to render more frames. Even high-end gaming computers may experience issues if the graphics are maximized and more pixels need to be rendered on screen.
Turn Off Movement Error And Shooting Error Options
Movement Error setting in Valorant makes the crosshair expand when moving. Meanwhile, the Shooting Error setting makes the crosshair expand while shooting for a long time. Both settings must be turned Off. This allows players to strafe-and-shoot without missing any shots due to a growing crosshair. Remember, the larger the crosshair, the more the chances of missing the target’s head.
Use A Small Crosshair
One of the basic Valorant settings to improve gameplay performance is to choose a small, custom crosshair. Either only choose the Center Dot as the crosshair, disabling the Inner and Outer Lines feature, or keep the Inner and Outer lines while disabling the Center Dot.
Set Mouse DPI To Above 800
A mouse DPI of 800 or above allows players to rotate 360° in the game with a slight tilt of the mouse to the left or right. If the DPI is below 400, there is a lot of sensor latency, which will delay the cursor/crosshair movement on the screen. High DPI leads to lower sensor latency but one needs to play a few practice games to get accustomed to the settings. Speaking of the in-game mouse sensitivity setting, we recommend somewhere between 0.35 to 0.50.
Synchronize Monitor’s Refresh Rate with Windows Settings
A monitor’s refresh rate must match the Windows settings for optimal Valorant gameplay. If it doesn’t, when your monitor is refreshing faster or slower than the game is rendering frames, it could lead to frequent lags and game crashes. A player can synchronize the monitor’s refresh rate with Windows settings by navigating to Settings → System → Display → Advanced Settings → Display Adapter → Monitor → Monitor Settings.
One could also copy the settings used by professional players to improve their gameplay. The best Valorant players use a low-sensitivity setting and a small crosshair for pinpoint accuracy.
