The mega LAN event is coming to North America
Valorant is a popular esports title and over the past few years, it has been taking place in Europe. But as per the current speculations, the event is all set to take place in Los Angeles. Alejandro Gomis an investigative reporter found out that this year, Riot Games are looking for a new city to host their 2023 VCT Valorant Champions 2023 and the main focus is on Los Angeles. This news can be found on Alejandro Gomis’s official Twitter account. According to the reports from Alejandro Gomis, the dates are also released and the official announcement will be made available soon. As of now, the Valorant Champions is all set to take place from the 7th of August to the 26th of August.
Previous tournaments and locations
The First VCT Champions 2020 was hosted in Reykjavik, Iceland. It was in a safe isolated area due to the Covid-19 pandemic. After that, once the restrictions were lifted, many major tournaments were hosted in different locations in Europe. Some major tournaments took place in Berlin and Istanbul. While the regional tournament was mostly conducted online.
Some of the professional players missed out on their chances due to self-quarantine after getting affected by Covid. The covid pandemic caused a lot of problems in hosting the LAN tournaments and the competitive circuit was played online which affected many people.
United States as the host location
This will be the first time that the Valorant world championship will take place in the United States. Los Angeles, United States seems to be a good region to host major esports tournaments. Many esports events did take place in Los Angeles and neighbouring areas before. Many American cities are often popular locations for major international esports competitions. Like, the LCS championships were previously hosted at the United Center in Chicago last season.
Riot plans for 2023
The 2023 event is all set to start with an opening pre-season event VCT Lock-in in Sao Paulo, Brazil which will take place in February. After that, the regular season will kick off in the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific. With every coming year, teams will expand by one until 2027 when it settles for a total of 14 teams. Riot Games will conduct the popular Valorant Game Changers Circuit and will collaborate with third-party tournament organisers for events around the globe in 2023.
VCT Masters Tokyo will take place in 2023, Last Chance Qualifiers will start in July 2023 and finally, the Valorant Champions 2023 will take place in August. Official announcements will be available soon.
