In June 2024, Riot Games unveiled the console variant for VALORANT, alongside its limited beta release, which is currently accessible in select regions & countries. The much-awaited console adaptation has already impressed fans and a new leaks have hinted at a sooner global release. As per a leak shared by eXtas1s (@eXtas1stv on X), a Spanish data miner, Riot Games might be planning to launch the VALORANT console edition globally in July 2024. The rumors suggest that limited beta phase has concluded (or is concluding soon), as devs might release the game globally on July 26.

However, before players get excited about the global launch, they must remember that Riot Games has not confirmed anything yet. Thus, until there’s an official confirmation from the VALORANT developers, players should take such rumors with a grain of salt.
VALORANT Console Edition Is Free-To-Play Like Its PC Counterpart
Although the console edition has yet to get its global launch, it will be free-to-play like its PC counterpart. In June 2024, players across Canada, Europe, Japan, UK, and USA were able to join the limited beta by registering for free at VALORANT’s official website. After its limited release, VALORANT console variant received praise for its gameplay adaptation from the PC version. Apart from a seamless porting, the console edition has also received multiple fixes with constant updates, alongside the PC variant. For the uninitiated, VALORANT is available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
VALORANT Console Edition Does Not Offer Cross-Platform Play, But Has Cross-Progression
The majority of VALORANT players on PC use keyboard & mouse, while the console users only rely upon controllers. Thus, to maintain a fair gaming environment, Riot Games has not included the cross-platform play support between PC and console versions. At the same time, the console edition will feature cross-progression, allowing anyone using same Riot account to login and save progress across the platforms.

Riot Games has also confirmed that all progress registered on the console version in limited beta will carry over to the final edition released after the global launch. Hence, players will have to use the same Riot account to access their progress from the beta phase.
