CD Projekt Red has been busy developing the next saga in The Witcher game franchise. Codenamed Polaris, and fan-stated as The Witcher 4, details of the first title in the upcoming trilogy have been few, which includes an official teaser image shared to reveal its development. The next trilogy is expected to feature Ciri as the main character but Geralt of Rivia will also return in some fashion, as disclosed by the English voice actor of the White Wolf.

The Witcher 4 Polaris: Geralt Of Rivia Will Play Be “A Part Of The Game” According To English Voice Actor
Doug Cockle, the English VA of Geralt of Rivia, remembered some of his most iconic lines from the game in a YouTube video by Fall Damage. It is unknown whether Doug would return to voice Geralt in the upcoming trilogy. That being said, the winner of the Golden Joystick Award for Best Gaming Performance did confirm the appearance of Geralt in Witcher 4.
At the 7:20 mark in the video, Doug begins talking about the upcoming The Witcher game by CDPR. After mentioning he “can’t say anything about it,” the voice actor was kind enough to confirm Geralt of Rivia’s role in The Witcher 4 Polaris.
“Witcher 4 has been announced… What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don’t know how much and the game won’t focus on Geralt. Its not about him this time. We don’t know who its about.”
The VA revealed that he hasn’t seen any script for Geralt of Rivia’s lines for Witcher 4 before twisting his words to claim he might be lying. Given that the production is still in its early stages, the voice actor may not be needed any time soon. CDPR could also change the English VA of the White Wolf but that decision will cause a stir among fans.
Although the story details about Witcher 4 Polaris haven’t been officially revealed, one can speculate based on the teaser image which showcases a lynx medallion. The next trilogy might focus on the School of the Lynx. It was founded by Lambert and Keira Metz, two characters who appear in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. On the other hand, Ciri could be the main character in the trilogy because the lynx medallion might be indicative of her own medallion, the one that was given by her late uncle Vesemir.
Geralt in Witcher 4 could appear as a supporting character in Ciri’s tale. Whether he will be a playable character is up for debate but, in any case, it won’t be stopping modders.
The Witcher 4 Polaris will be built with Unreal Engine 5 and is touted as the ‘most developed project’ by CDPR. Those who can’t quench their need for some dangerous solo adventures in high-quality backgrounds can try Game Science’s Black Myth: Wukong this year.
