*The monster has the ability to destroy entire civilizations.
Kafka and Mina’s battle against Kaiju No. 9 came to an unexpected end in the latest issue of the manga. Although it seemed that Kafka finally defeated No. 9, something much more sinister was freed from within him. Fans are left to wonder how the Kaiju Defense Force members, especially Kafka Hibino, will stop this dangerous being from destroying the whole country.
The Appearance Of The New Enemy Was Foreshadowed Long Ago
In chapter 113, Kafka successfully destroys Kaiju No. 9’s core with the help of Mina. But just as the core was breaking apart, No. 9 wanted to have a chat with Kafka and teleported him to an unknown location that looked like a battlefield. As Kafka looks around, he spots a mask that he has seen somewhere before. After that, No. 9 tells him that Kafka has defeated him. But while doing that, he had freed a much more powerful Daikaiju that was stored within him.
Back in chapter 66 of the manga, Soshiro Hoshina took Kafka Hibino to the Ryunei Shrine to train him in hand-to-hand combat. While coming back, Kafka saw a vision of a man clad in samurai-like armor looking at him. The man was wearing the same mask that Kafka sees in chapter 113. It seems that the person Kafka saw previously was a warrior during the Meireki Era who fought to defeat the Daikaiju. Fans are glad to learn that the story has come full circle since then.
The Meireki Era Daikaiju Will Unleash Its Full Power Soon
In 1657, during the Meireki Era, the Edo and Kanto regions of Japan were demolished by multiple Daikaiju. However, some powerful warriors were able to stand up to the monsters and subjugate them before they destroyed humanity. It is likely that they stored the monsters inside Kaiju No. 9 since they were not able to kill them completely. The Ryunei Shrine was the place where the epic battle took place. All the warriors who perished during the war were buried in the shrine.
It is likely that the masked apparition that Kafka experienced was one of the fighters. Fans think that he also had the same Kaiju inside him that Kafka does now. In the final panel of chapter 113, the Daikaiju stabs his hand through Kafka’s heart. If all of the Daikaiju are unleashed, the Defense Force will have a massive calamity at their hands. Due to how powerful the monsters are, the protagonist will have to join the battle despite being mortally injured.
The manga will soon unveil the connection between Kafka and the Meireki Era masked warrior. It seems that Kafka will remember what happened during that time with the help of the Kaiju inside him. The Defense Force members, especially the elite warriors, will have to risk their lives to defeat the devilish creature. But, how he ultimately survives the impending catastrophe remains to be seen.
