Call of Duty MW3 (Modern Warfare III) is coming out in November 2023, almost a year after its predecessor’s global launch. Despite being criticized by many fans as a glorified expansion to MW2 expansion, Activision & Sledgehammer Games have already made great promises regarding Modern Warfare III’s content, be it iconic Modern Warfare 2 (2019) maps, brand-new MP features, a fresh campaign, or a Zombies game mode.

For those unaware, Yes, Call of Duty MW3 will have a Zombies game mode. On top of that, Activision has already revealed that players will get to experience the largest-ever Call of Duty Zombies map in Modern Warfare III. Interestingly, the much-anticipated game mode will offer an open-world player versus enemy (PvE) experience. At the same one will be able to witness the inclusion of some of the “biggest enemies in Call of Duty history,” as claimed by developers.
Call of Duty MW3 To Feature An Open-world Zombies Mode
The upcoming Zombies mode (Modern Warfare Zombies aka MWZ) arriving in MW3 has been confirmed to tell a fresh story from developer Treyarch with all-new missions, core Zombies features, and more. Here’s what developers mentioned in COD MW3 blong about MWZ (Modern Warfare Zombies):
“Modern Warfare® Zombies (MWZ) tells an involved and unearthly Dark Aether Zombies story set in the Modern Warfare universe. Expect to undertake missions across different regions that escalate in difficulty, with core Zombies features and a cavalcade of secrets to discover.”
The large-scale Zombies map featuring “unearthly Dark Aether Zombies” hints at a new iteration of Outbreak. For the unversed, Outbreak (developed by Treyarch) was first introduced in Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War as a Zombies experience. Furthermore, it inspired Call of Duty: Mobile’s Undead Siege Zombies mode of Season 6 (2021).
Therefore, one can expect a similar extraction survival experience from Modern Warfare Zombies arriving in Call of Duty MW3. As of this writing, there is little information on the first look of MWZ and zombies featured in the Modern Warfare III experience.
