Activision officially unveiled the gameplay trailer for MW3 (Modern Warfare III), a direct sequel to MW2, which will bring a new campaign and tons of new features for Call of Duty fans. The developers have also maintained that the MW2 content that players have acquired will carry forward to MW3, yet many are curious about the transfer of COD Points (CP).
For the uninitiated, CP is the in-game currency players purchase with real-world money in Call of Duty titles like MW2, Warzone, Call of Duty: Mobile, and more. As players have spent real money on CP in MW2, it is understandable for many to worry about their transfer when Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 launches worldwide on November 10, 2023.

COD Points: Will the Acquired MW2 Currency Transfer To MW3
The simplest answer to one of the most burning questions around the transfer of COD Points is “yes.” Players who have already acquired tons of CP in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 don’t have to worry about its transfer to Modern Warfare 3 upon the latter’s launch. Apart from the transfer from MW2 to Modern Warfare 3, players can do the same with other active Call of Duty titles, as CP is assigned to the accounts rather than the games.
However, the transfer will require players to consider a few conditions regarding the account and platform. As players use accounts linked with Activision to log into a game, be it MW2, Warzone, or any other title, they must use the same account for the CP transfer. One cannot exchange CP between different accounts linked to Activision. Therefore, players willing to buy MW3 and transfer CP will need to use the same account they use for MW2.
Apart from the Activision-linked account, the other condition for the transfer is the use of the same platform. If users want to transfer CP from Xbox One to PlayStation 5, they cannot do so. However, the transfer between PlayStation 4 & PlayStation 5 is possible, as both share the same platform despite being different generation consoles. In the same way, the transfer will be possible between Xbox One & Xbox S/X or the games installed from Battle.net or Steam.
Apart from the CP transfer, other MW2 or Warzone content players will carry forward to Modern Warfare 3. The content being carried forward included the operators, weapons, and other bundles that players own already (before August 16) or are labeled as usable in MW3 & MW2 (after August 16). Thus, players can spend their CP on in-game content while keeping content labeling in mind.
