Wuthering Waves — What’s The Story?
While players await the global Wuthering Waves release, they can get acquainted with the characters and lore of the game. The Wuthering Waves Story Cinematics video released on YouTube outlines a post-apocalyptic world brought forth by a mysterious catastrophe called Retroact Rain.
The cinematic trailer begins with Sentinel Jue, a dragon, appointing Madam Jinhsi as the Magistrate of Jinzhou city after the events at Norfall Barrens. The scene shifts to a flashback, where we see Ovadrax, stated to be a “deadly Threnodian monster,” using his powers to resonate with the frequencies of weapons of those slain in battle and turn them into his minions. Genshu Lin, General of the Midnight Rangers, was tasked with defeating Ovadrax and his terror.
Genshu Lin and his army seemed to be on the path to victory until a certain ‘Retroact Rain’ phase caused monsters to emerge from beneath. It overwhelmed Lin’s army, while the General himself disappeared during the ensuing battle against Ovadrax. He was blamed for the crushing defeat despite sacrificing himself for his soldiers and people.
Under the guidance of Magistrate Jinhsi, Jinzhou city began to prosper and have a vision for the future. All the while, monsters began appearing in the world.
In Wuthering Waves, players take control of Rover (default main character) who must slay the monsters that pose a threat to humanity but also be friendly to those monsters who have adapted to living with humans. He will also need to work in tandem with other Resonators.
Who Are Resonators In Wuthering Waves?
Resonators are individuals with the ability to resonate with objects and manipulate their frequencies. Ovadrax, the possible main villain in the story, seems to be a Resonator as he changed the weapons to “deadly Tacet Discords.”
Each Resonator has a Tacet Mark that signifies their ability. They can classified into Natural, Mutant, Congenital, or Artificial and their power is based on their Resonance Spectrum Pattern.
