On July 8, developer Kuro Games revealed the upcoming Resonators with Wuthering Waves 1.2 drip marketing. It provided the first image of Zhezhi as well as added to the lore of Xiangli Yao, who is stated to be a Spectro DPS Resonator by the latest leaks.
Drip marketing for Wuthering Waves usually occurs a month before an update’s release. As such, the latest posts on X by the game’s official website have almost confirmed that the Version 1.2 update will launch in mid-August.
Wuthering Waves 1.2 Drip Marketing Shared Details About Xiangli Yao And Zhezhi
Zhezhi was the first Resonator revealed by the Wuthering Waves 1.2 drip marketing. Currently, lore about her is minimal because Rover hasn’t had any notable interaction with the character. The archive reading of Zhezhi describes her as a quiet and shy commissioned painter dedicated to the craft.
Compared to Zhezhi, Xiangli Yao is a more important character in Wuthering Waves. Mortefi dreams of surpassing Yao with his research. The story archives have also implied that Xiangli Yao was Mortefi’s mentor, permitting him to use rare resources and get access to esteemed research events. Baizhi’s profile highlights Yao as a calm and rational person who loves to tackle scientific challenges.

Xiangli Yao & Zhezhi Speculated Weapons, Elements, & Roles
Previous Wuthering Waves 1.2 leaks mentioned that Xiangli Yao will be a Rectifier Resonator, using Pistols as a weapon. However, the latest leak from a CN forum has revealed that Yao will use Gauntlets.
Based on the recent leaks for 1.2 Convenes, Xiangli Yao is a Electro damage dealer who uses Gauntlets. On the other hand, Zhezhi will be a Glacio Support character who uses a Rectifier in Wuthering Waves.
Although the rarity of Zhezhi and Xiangli Yao hasn’t been officially disclosed, both are expected to be 5-star Resonators. Zhezhi will headline Phase 1 while Yao will feature in Phase 2 of Wuthering Waves 1.2, given the order of their reveal in the latest drip marketing by Kuro Games.
Wuthering Waves Version 1.2 is expected to drop on August 15, 2024, following the ending of Changli’s Featured Resonator Convene.
