LA Thieves defeated OpTic Texas by 4-2
In a nail-biting match between LA Thieves and OpTic Texas, LA Thieves won by 4-2 against OpTic Texas to lift their first Call of Duty League (CDL) championship of 2023. LA Thieves won its third title since 2002. The 12 CDL teams participated in five qualifier matches from March 31 to April 16 to determine their Major Four seeding. OpTic Texas was the only team to finish 5-0 in the Major Four qualifications, earning them the top seed for this competition. However, they were closely followed by the Los Angeles Thieves, Seattle Surge, New York Subliners, and Vegas Legion, who all finished 4-1.
Match Analysis
First Game
Both teams started their first map of the grand finale on the Zarqwa Hydroelectric Hardpoint. LA Thieves and OpTic Texas started the first game with an intense battle. However, LA Thieves concluded the map with a win during the last second with a final score of 250-244.
Second Game
OpTic Texas after its loss in the first game regained its position in the second game of the match by taking control over the Breenbergh Hotel Search and Destroy map. OpTic Texas defeated LA Thieves by 6-3 to level the score by 1-1.
Third Game
The third game of the match was played on the Himmelmatt Expo Control, in which LA Thieves once again regained control over the map by defeating OpTic Texas by 3-1. At this point of the game, the score was standing at 2-1, where LA Thieves was leading the chart with two wins.
Fourth Game
The fourth game of the match started on the Al Bagra Fortress Hardpoint where once again OpTic Texas got control over LA Thieves. OpTic Texas defeated LA Thieves with a huge margin of 250-138 to level the match score by 2-2.
Fifth Game
With a loss on the fourth map, LA Thieves started the fifth game of the match on El Asilo Search and Destroy map with control over OpTic Texas. LA Thieves defeated OpTic Texas by 6-4 to take a lead in the match by 3-2.
Final Game
The final game of the map started on the El Asilo Control, where both LA Thieves and OpTic Texas started the game with a neck-to-neck battle against each other. However, LA Thieves got hold of the match and defeated OpTic Texas by 3-2 to win the match by 4-2.
Players from both teams have delivered a commendable performance, in which DASHY from OpTic Texas leads the scoreboard with 100/99 K/D, a K/D ratio of +1.01, and 14104 damage. On the other hand, OCTANE from LA Thieves registered 107/90 K/D, a K/D ratio of +1.19, and 13914 damage.
